Round three wasn’t quite so straightforward for Goerges. The German was rattled early on by Romina Oprandi, who had clearly been buoyed by her second round dismissal of former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone. Goerges quickly switched to a more defensive approach, and this eventually paid dividends as she progressed with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 success.
