Thomaz Bellucci takes on local favourite Paul Capdeville later tonight.
Third seed Bellucci has shot up the rankings in the past twelve months to 35 largely due to his clay results. He reached the final of one of the South American ATPs last February and then went on to win the Gstaad title later in the year.
He’s won both his previous matches with Capdeville in challengers back in 2008, both times in straight sets.
Capdeville who is ranked down at 143, was on a dire run of form going into this tournament having won just one of his last ten matches. He halted the run in round one with a gritty 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 over a local wildcard.
Bellucci looked quite impressive with his big leftie topspin forehand seeing him through a tricky match with Nicholas Lapentti 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
It looks very unlikely that Bellucci will slip up and he’s 1/5 with Boylesports.
