Juan Martin Del Potro has a great chance to reach the Australian Open fourth round when he plays Yen-Hsun Lu in Friday's night session.
After a spate of upsets in his section of the draw, Del Potro will be eyeing a place in the quarter-finals and he could have landed far tougher third round matches than Lu.
The Argentine looked less than convincing on Monday against Adrian Mannarino but he stepped up a gear in round two to see of Blaz Kavcic in straight sets.
"I think I play much better than my first match, and Kavcic is very dangerous and very faster," Del Potro said afterwards. "So I know I should play 100% like today. I feel confidence with my forehand basically. So it's important to play safely all the game and play in confidence every time."
"I don't know if I closer or far to my best level on 2009, but I'm doing my job, trying to improve my serve, forehand, volleys, everything."
Lu's into the third round in Melbourne for the second time. Until this year, his best Grand Slam performances have come at Wimbledon where he made the quarters in 2010.
Del Potro has played him once before, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in Washington a few years back. Look for the 11th seed to pick up another comfortable win,
