He completed his third fightback in a row on Saturday against compatriot Felciano Lopez, claiming a 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3 win in the semi-finals.
Explaining how he overturned the deficit, Ferrer commented, "When I lost the first set, I tried to forget the tie-break and I tried to focus again. I played better in the second and the third [sets]. I served better. Finally in the third set, he did three double faults in the important moments and I took my chance."
Ferrer will now take on Andy Murray for the title. Murray has excelled in this year’s Asian swing, and he stands just one win away from completing a title hat-trick. He’ll also be vying to replace Roger Federer as the world No. 3. Ferrer will need to be at his best to deny the Scot on Sunday.
