Rafael Nadal claimed an early break of serve in the final of the Australian Open as the Spaniard began the match with a high level of intensity against the reigning champion.

Djokovic looked somewhat slow and sluggish but he raised his game as the set progressed and broke back to make it 4-4.  The pair then exchanged service games before Nadal then claimed a second break in the 10th game of the set. The world number two then held his nerve to seal the opener 7-5.

Djokovic is, however, the world number one and has won his last six matches against Nadal. The Serb will be confident in his own battling qualities and will believe that he can come back and win his third Australian Open title.
