Gael Monfils aims to put a stop to his poor Marseille record when he takes on Andreas Seppi.

Monfils has played Marseille four times in the past and lost in the first round every time. This year he was third seed so received a bye but can he finally adjust to the courts here.

Seppi will hold the advantage of already having a match under his belt on the surface, having beaten Arnaud Clement 7-6, 7-5 on Tuesday.

Monfils is in reasonable form. He looked good in the early stages in Rotterdam last week but then got outhit by Mikhail Youzhny in the quarter-finals. 

Monfils has beaten Seppi twice before, both times in 2007 on outdoor hard.
