Fernando Verdasco aims to continue his recent good form against Jurgen Melzer in the Barcelona Open third round.

Verdasco is many people’s tip for the title this week after his run to the final in Monte-Carlo last week, his first Masters Series final. The fifth seed gave his fans reason to feel optimistic after he came through a testing second round against Richard Gasquet 7-5, 6-3.
Melzer is at his best on clay where his unorthodox tactics and liking to sometimes serve-volley often works well. However he was made to battle during a scrappy 6-7, 7-5, 7-5 second round win over Oscar Hernandez and he’s taking on Verdasco for the second time this month.
Verdasco has won four of his five matches against the Austrian, beating him 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 in Miami a few weeks ago.
