Bellucci enters this contest as the favourite, and as the third seed he’ll be expected to get through this match with little difficulty. The Brazilian is currently ranked just inside the top forty, and in this field that makes him a force to be reckoned with.
First up for Bellucci will be Argentina’s Federico Delbonis. This will be Delbonis’s tenth match at ATP level, and as he’s only 21 year-old, it’s fair to say that he lacks experience. Still, he’s displayed a real aptitude for clay court tennis, and at 6’3” he has plenty of reach and the height from which to fire off a dangerous serve. This won’t give him too much against Bellucci though, as the world No. 37 is roughly the same height.
Delbonis made light work of Chilean veteran Nicolas Massu in round one. The former top ten player isn’t what he once was, but Delbonis can take great pride in handing out a 6-0, 6-3 thrashing. With this in mind, he could be able to threaten Bellucci. However, Bellucci has more to play for than Massu, and he plays week-in-week-out. Delbonis will need to do a lot more to give himself a chance.
