Richard Gasquet faces a tricky quarter-final against the dangerous Philipp Kohlschreiber in Montpellier.
Gasquet is a classy operator at his best and he delighted his home fans with a 6-3, 6-4 win over former world number three Nikolay Davydenko in the second round. Davydenko is now ranked outside the top 50 for the first time since September 2004 and although he snapped an awful run of form by beating Stephane Robert in the opening round this week, he never looked like troubling Gasquet.
A solitary break of serve in each set was another for the fourth seed who sent down ten aces. He'll need to serve well again on Friday as Kohlschreiber is equally slick from the back of the court.
Both men have made a bright start to 2012, reaching the Australian Open fourth round. Kohlschreiber could be moving back towards the top 20 if he maintains his current form and he's won both his matches in straight sets this week, seeing off the highly dangerous Olivier Rochus in the opening round.
Gasquet has won both their previous matches but they have not played since the summer of 2006.
Prediction: Gasquet in three.
