Richard Gasquet is in second round action against Russia's Nikolay Davydenko in Montpellier on Wednesday afternoon.
Gasquet will be looking to build on his impressive early season form at the Open Sud de France in Montpellier on Wednesday. The flashy Frenchman enjoyed the best Australian Open run out of any of his compatriots, beating Janko Tipsarevic on the way to the fourth round.
He's got the skills to go all the way this week and his net ability will give him a crucial edge this week on the fast indoor courts of Montpellier.
However he has a tough opener against former world number three Nikolay Davydenko. The Russian had a fairly torrid 2011 by his standards but he looked mightily impressive as he saw off Stephane Robert in under an hour earlier this week.
Davydenko remains a great returner and he'll provide a thorough test of Gasquet's sharpness indoors. The fourth seed is playing his first match of the week after receiving a first round bye.
Gasquet actually leads 3-1 on the head-to-head, winning in straight sets at the 2010 US Open.
However the Frenchman can still be very inconsistent and the first match indoors is always a tough one. Don't be surprised if Davydenko pulls off the upset.
