Having won the tournament here in 2007, Baghdatis now has an 8-0 record a the PBZ Zagreb Indoors, and appears to be the favourite to win this year’s competition.
Baghdatis has started the season brightly. He also made it through to the semi-finals in Brisbane, and seems on course for an ATP title in the near future. If he can beat Lukas Lacko on Saturday he’ll be in with a real chance.
Lacko will be competing in his first ever ATP level semi-final here, which is perhaps unsurprising given that he made round three of the Australian Open last month as a qualifier. Lacko has managed to work his way into the top hundred, and he should be full of confidence right now.
Lacko holds a 1-0 head to head record against Baghdatis, having beaten him at Wimbledon in 2010. The Cypriot will be eager to avenge this defeat, and will also be keen to avoid another semi-final loss. This could be a close match, but Baghdatis should be able to prevail.
