Chela has a 2-0 head to head record against Zeballos at ATP level, but was beaten by him twice at Challenger level in 2009. The evergreen Chela recorded his wins over the 26 year-old in 2010 and 2011, both on clay. Chela has been playing remarkably well over the past year, and there are few players in their thirties that are able to continue to succeed at the top level like he does.
Zeballos may well be primed for revenge though. He’ll have his sights on the top hundred, even though he’s the underdog here. He earned the right to take on Chela by beating Romania’s Adrian Ungur 6-0, 7-5 in round one, and this may give him some momentum. That said, Chela appears to be the likely victor.
