Tomic is the youngest player in the world's top 100 but such is his talent that it's a surprise to many that he hasn't made an ATP final yet. If he can overcome Seppi than that will be a significant breakthrough in his young career.

He has every chance going by his performances so far this week. He saw off defending champion Jarkko Nieminen 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-2 in a very tightly contested quarter-final on Thursday evening and while it wasn't vintage Tomic, the ability to grind out a win while far from his best will encourage his supporters. When things haven't gone his way in the past, Tomic has been too guilty of letting his head drop and almost giving up but not this time.

Having squandered a 5-2 lead in the first set tiebreak, Tomic gritted his teeth, battled through a series of tight service games early in the second before breaking Nieminen in the tenth game to level the match. With the Finn deflated, he broke early in the decider and took control.          

“I'm really happy with today's performance and how I played,” Tomic said. “But I'm ready to go for tomorrow's semi-final. I'm really confident now, and I got a shot to get into the final for the first time in my career.”  

Tomic has won his only previous match against Seppi - 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 at Queens Club three years ago. The Italian (who's ranked 23 in the world) has been solid all week but if Tomic brings his best to the table, you'd fancy the young Aussie to get the win.

Prediction: Tomic in three.
