The 2013 ATP Zagreb event will start a week later than usual due to schedule modifications from the ATP.
The PBZ Zagreb Indoors always heralds the start of the month long European Indoor swing and in 2013 it will be begin on February 4th.
In previous years the tournament has been held in the week following the Australian Open but from 2013, the Davis Cup first round ties will be held that week with Zagreb following straight afterwards.
Although Croatia are an ever-present force in the World Group it will almost certainly have little impact on the number of home participants. The tournament is one of the biggest events of the year for the likes of Ivan Ljubicic, Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig, a rare opportunity to get the chance to compete in front of home fans.
Russia's Mikhail Youzhny claimed a superb double in 2012, winning both the singles and the doubles title and as one of the most formidable opponents on the tour on indoor hard courts, Youzhny will be back to try and replicate his feat.
Finally watch out for the surprise finalists. Zagreb always throws up a few unpredictable results with the likes of Lukas Lacko, Michael Berrer and Sergiy Stakhovsky all reaching the final over the years.
