ATP Montpellier or the Open Sud de France as it is otherwise known, gets underway on February 4th in 2013.
Montpellier has been one of the fastest growing European cities over the past 25 years and after a significant investment in a brand new sporting arena seating 7,500 people, this event looks set to be a feature on the ATP calendar for years to come.
It was held at the start of the season for the first time in 2012 but the event still managed to attract the big names with world number seven (and former Wimbledon finalist) Tomas Berdych winning the title.
The French crowds know their tennis and provide vociferous support for the home players and it's been a particularly happy event for Gael Monfils who won the inaugural tournament in 2010 and reached the final in 2012.
The impact a home crowd can have was really seen in 2012 as qualifier and world number 207 Guillaume Rufin was inspired to a stunning straight sets win over in-form Spaniard Feliciano Lopez who was coming off an impressive run to the second week of the Australian Open.
