Andy Murray, being observed by new coach Ivan Lendl, continued his dominant run in Brisbane, firing his way into the final with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Australian rising star Bernard Tomic. The Scot, usually not renowned for having the most vicious serve, for once managed to control the game on his service, leaving Tomic with scant opportunity to get into the match.

“Any time you start working with someone new it’s different,” remarked Murray when asked about his new partnership with Lendl. "But I’m just interested in winning. I don’t mind if it’s ugly, if I played badly or I played great. You just need to fight as hard as you can to get the win. Fortunately today I played well on top of that. Whether Ivan was here or not, I still would have put in a tough performance.”

On Sunday Murray will meet Alexandr Dolgopolov in the final. Dolgopolov is suffering from a thigh injury at the moment, but this didn’t stop him from shrugging off the challenge of Gilles Simon in the semi’s. Simon is one of the top players on the ATP World Tour right now, so it’s clear that Dolgopolov still poses a threat to Murray.

Murray will need to be sharp if he’s to get the better of the world No. 15. Dolgopolov possesses a lot of power, but is also a cunning opponent who knows how to slice and switch up play. The fans in Brisbane can expect a terrific final.
